This is a vegetarian meal which I make very often as it’s simple and delicious.

Here in this meal you will find that I have made a cauliflower and Potato vegetable which we call 


I add a little more tomatoes or tomato puree to this if I want it a little runny than seen in the picture. I have also served AMBAT VARAN with this meal and this is a dal preparation which is made by tempering soaked and cooked dal with mustard, jeera, curry leaves, hing and garnished with freshly chopped coriander.



2 medium sized potatoes cut into cubes
One medium sized cauliflower floret cut into pieces.
1/2 cup fresh peas or vatana
2 medium sized onions chopped
2 small tomatoes finely chopped
3 small cloves of garlic finely chopped
1 tsp dhania jeera powder
11/2 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp sugar

For tempering:

Oil, mustard seeds, jeera seeds, hing and one green chili.
Freshly chopped coriander for garnish.

  1. 1.     Heat oil and add mustard seeds let them crackle add jeera 
  2. 2.    Add the onions, and garlic, when it becomes a little brown add the tomatoes, cook till the tomato pieces are cooked and soft.
  3. 3.    Add potatoes and a little water let them cook till the potatoes are partially cooked
  4. 4.    Add the cauliflower florets and the green peas , chili powder , haldi powder , dhania jeera powder, sugar and salt
  5. 5.    Let them cooked covered till cauliflower and potatoes are done
  6. 6.    Garnish with freshly chopped coriander.A simple vegetable which goes well with any type of meal even a fishy type.
