EATS AT MAHABALESHWAR....

We started our new year by visiting a popular hill station "MAHABALESHWAR" which is a holiday spot and also a important pilgrimage site…
It’s about 5-6 hour drive from Mumbai..

It’s the highest hill station in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, which is a state in India.
Mahabaleshwar is situated at 1372 meters around Lake Venna.

The Venna lake is one of the major tourist attractions of Mahabaleshwar. The lake is surrounded by trees on all sides.

Tourists can enjoy a boat ride over the lake or a horse ride next to the lake. A number of small eateries line the banks of the lake.

Mahabaleshwar is also known for the honey and strawberries produced here. One can visit strawberry farms to enjoy the real flavour of the fruit. It is said that the climate of Mahabaleshwar is ideal for Strawberries and Mulberries.

This is not the first time that I have visited Mahabaleshwar but every time I go ,I love to see the fresh fruits that line the streets especially the strawberries (In Mumbai where I live you do not find such fresh strawberries and so it’s a special attraction…)

Tourism is the main source of income for the locals of this place and hence you see that they bring out the best they have for people who visit the place.

Its also famous for its Strawberry and cream which is so famous that you see almost everyone having one of it...
You will also see lots of red radish, corn (roasted and boiled), guavas and much more....

Its so good to visit such places and eat this which are locally grown right out of their farms.. It also helps the locals plus we get the taste of fresh and scrumptious food stuff...

With another popular and scenic hill resort Panchgani in close vicinity (about 20KM), most tourists often visit both places together.
The 'Table-Land' phenomenon of nature at Panchgani is breath-taking.Where you find people enjoying horse-riding or just roaming around the small village which houses many residential schools..where kids from all over India study and stay.
You can also visit the Mapro farm which sells there produce like jams, squashes , sweets etc and they have a very nice canteen where people come to have the delicacies made with their products...
That sums up my 2 day stay at Mahabaleshwar with lots of eating , eating and eating...
