UNIQUE DINNER****

I call this dinner unique because its rarely that i make something like this for dinner , probably the first time that i have made the following things for dinner....
i made
STIR FRY BROCCOLI  IN GARLIC BREAD
ROASTED CORN SALAD WITH LETTUCE AND CABBAGE
AND SOME JUICY GRAPES...

I have mentioned my love for stir fries especially broccoli and i make various combinations to make it interesting , while at my local general store which sells the regular crunchy munchy stuff i saw that he keeps fresh bread on his counter so i being a bread lover had to try his garlic bread ( i always try out the garlic bread from any new bakery or place which sells bread and cakes).

so was born my broccoli stirfry sandwich in toasted garlic bread which i toasted on a griddle with a little butter.{can you see a grape peeping out from the salad}

Roasted corn salad i normally have with my lunch and never for dinner and almost always with rice , dal and vegetable , but today i was in a mood to eat it with the sandwich and it was good...

RAW MANGO DAL

My neighbor is from Kerala and her cooking style is so much similar to our goan cooking .
The reason probably being that they too use a lot of coconut and rice in their day to day food .
Now this dal recipe is my neighbor Smita's favorite recipe .

INGREDIENTS

1 cup toovar dal
1/2 cup coconut grated
1 raw mango (small) chopped into large chunks.
1/2 tsp jeera whole
1 green chili (optional)
for tempering....mustard seeds, asoefotida , curry leaves and red chillies (2 small)

METHOD
cook the toovar dal in a pressure cooker
Take a vessel in which you will make the dal and cook the raw mango pieces in it till soft
add the cooked dal
grind together coconut, jeera and the green chili
add it to the cooked and boiling dal
temper with the above given ingredients add more red chillies if you don't use the green chili
you can add a spoonful of lemon juice and thats optional too..
